New Research Triangle Park location will help the company create jobs, employ skilled workers and network with leading entrepreneurial businesses
Durham, NC | Feb. 16, 2011
OpenGambit, a leading software solutions provider utilizing open source standards and technologies, announced today the opening of their Research Triangle Park (RTP) office. This new location will allow the company to expand their technology expertise to core Triangle-based, service industries, including the pharmaceutical, biotech and education sectors.
“The Triangle region, and the RTP area in particular, are well suited to support technology companies like Open Gambit with a large concentration of highly-skilled, well-educated talent,” said Kiran Addepalli, Open Gambit CEO and Founder. “North Carolina has done an excellent job in marketing RTP as the center of innovative research, state-of-the -art technology and pioneering entrepreneurship. Our decision to locate here was a simple one.”
Open Gambit was created in 2008 to provide cost-efficient, user-friendly applications to insurance agents and carriers. The company has since broaden its scope to include other service industries, with an emphasis on client partnership, customization and the use of open source technology and other standards that saves clients time, money and resources. At the core of its business is the creation of software solutions that utilize an open source application platform, allowing for easy integration and implementation of Open Gambit software and third-party applications.
Future plans for the company include hiring a business analyst, increasing the sales staff and doubling the number of employees by the end of the year.
“There are many technology-focused regions in the US that appealed us, like Boston, Austin, Texas and Silicon Valley,” said Addepalli. “But in the end it was the Triangle’s ‘people factor,’ low cost of living and four-season climate that really made the difference.”
